Not Amazing Enough: Now You See Me 2

Hello there!

Slide1

Today is a great day even though I’ve been dizzy all day but nonetheless, today is amazing. Why? I have the time to binge watch Stranger Things [it’s one of the best shows. it’s amazing! Check it out!] and watch movies! Today, I watched the sequel to Now You See Me, Now You See Me 2!

Now You See Me 2 (2016)

Cast:
>> Jesse Eisenberg – J. Daniel Atlas
>> Mark Ruffalo – Dylan Rhodes
>> Woody Harrelson – Merritt McKinney
>> Dave Franco – Jack Wilder
>> Daniel Radcliffe – Walter Mabry
>> Lizzy Caplan – Lula May

One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic spectacles, The Four Horsemen resurface for a comeback performance in hopes of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than Walter Mabry, a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.

I said to myself after watching the movie that this was a mind blowing and amazing movie without analyzing it enough! Then, I analyzed it and realized, it wasn’t amazing enough for me.

I wouldn’t talk about the old characters but instead, I’ll talk about the new ones. Lula May, the new member of The Four Horsemen, wasn’t interesting enough for me. I like the character. She’s so funny and determined but she wasn’t interesting enough. There was no character development and a backstory about her. The film introduced another character, the evil twin of Merritt. For me, the character didn’t fit the movie. He was interesting though. Another new character is Walter Marby. Now, this is what I want. He’s totally evil. He tries to kill Dylan by drowning him and tries to kill all of them by dropping them on a flying plane. What’s not evil about that? He’s evil and interesting and Daniel Radcliffe had done an amazing job in portraying the character.

The plot was actually amazing. I really liked it and I love the revelations throughout the movie and I think that’s the part where I was mind blowned. The thing about the plot is that it’s so complicated because there are so many things that happening. The movie started really smooth and fine. I wasn’t thrown immediately at the “action” of the film. But as soon as I get to the movie’s act, my mind went blank because I’m so confused. I understand some of the plot but overall, I was confused.

Another thing about the plot is it’s predictable. The movie tries to trick you that this tragic moment is real even though it’s fake but you just know that it’s fake and you predict what’s going to happen next. Also, some moments are very same to the prequel. Although the plot is very confusing and predictable, I like but not love it.

I wouldn’t forget about the magic tricks in the movie of course! Some of the magic tricks were really mind blowing. The trick where Atlas controlled rain was absolutely one of my favorite and the scene where they stole the chip was one of my favorites too. Their finale was amazing (for me). It’s mind blowing and well thought out or simply, clever! Some of the tricks was so cliche and not really shocking and impressive. Example is where Lula keeps disappearing when Atlas was talking to her. That’s cliche right?

Overall, I still like the movie even though there were major problems about the film. It’s visually appealing and I like the plot but again, it’s very confusing and predictable and the new characters (except for Walter) wasn’t interesting enough. Do I recommend it? Yes! It’s good but maybe, it won’t hit your expectations. Will I still watch the next one? Yes! I think the third one will be amazing!

I hope you enjoyed this movie review! Have a nice weekend!

Goodbye,
Jerrod
